Automobili Mottola

A new chapter in Italian automotive craftsmanship, shaped by three generations of design discipline and a relentless pursuit of purity. Our cars are not built for trends or algorithms — they are created for the ones who still believe that a machine can have a soul. Precision in form. Elegance in motion. Modern engineering guided by heritage.

The Serafina is the first expression of this philosophy: calm, confident, and unmistakably Italian.

Short Wheelbase Dynamics on Track

A car's wheelbase is a key factor defining its handling characteristics, with specific pros and cons for track use:

  • Agility and Cornering: Shorter wheelbases have a lower moment of inertia, which allows the car to change direction more quickly and feel more responsive to steering inputs. This is a significant advantage on autocross courses or tight, technical circuits.

  • Stability Trade-offs: The trade-off for this agility is often reduced high-speed stability. Short-wheelbase cars can feel "twitchy" or less planted on long straights or fast, sweeping corners, requiring more driver input to stay in a straight line.

  • Weight and Stiffness: Generally, a shorter car can be built lighter and stiffer, which further aids handling and responsiveness.

  • Aerodynamics: For very high-performance racing, longer wheelbases can offer aerodynamic advantages, allowing for more downforce and better high-speed grip, which is why Formula One cars have grown in length over the years.
